Rizal Memorial Library and Museum

Have you gone to the Cebu City's library dedicated to our beloved national hero?

Located at the heart of Metro Cebu, it is hard to miss: the Rizal Memorial Library and Museum, which was renovated recently. It faces the equally historic Osmena Boulevard, where traffic and people gives it life.

This Neo-renaissance building stands as an important landmark of Cebu along with the famous Capitol, Magellan's Cross and many others. Its upper floor keeps some important and rare books on Cebu's history and culture.

Aside from being a public library, it also serves as a rich museum. It houses a collection of antiques, sculptures, furniture, and carvings out of wood donated by prominent Cebuano families as well as some archaeological finds. It also has paintings and sculptures made by Cebuano artists.

Moreover, a graceful staircase leads from the street to the second floor, which is being utilized as a performing arts hall for concerts and theatre productions by Cebu talents.

After so many years of having walls, floors and beams infested by termites, the Rizal Memorial Library and Museum was finally fixed and renovated just two years ago. A few improvements and enhancements to the entrance of the upper floor were made, including the noticeable modern touch that was added to the facade.

Well, it's about time you visit this library and enrich yourself with local culture.
